I Disobey the Law

I was a very bad girl on my recent trips to Sephora and Macy's. I had good intentions when I walked in but couldn't resist all the beauty goodies that lay before my eyes. So feast your eyes upon this mini Sephora and Macy's haul:

I must say my favorite purchase by far was Nars blush in "Outlaw," which inspired today's post title.
Its a deep rose pink with golden glittering specks throughout, it is absolutely beautiful. It gives the face a soft and supple glow.
I also picked up a Nars blush in "Orgasm."
Just saying the titles of Nars' blush  is enough to make your cheeks blush on their own!
The purchase I was most excited about was the Naked 2 palette which I have been eyeing for quite some time. I think the taupe hues of this palette suit me well, seeing as I like to keep my looks natural. It is the perfect addition to my humble little makeup collection.

Here are a few other things I picked up:

The Caudalie Beauty Elixir as you can see is very well loved. I'm obsessed with this stuff, I see why it is so popular. I shall talk about this is more detail in an upcoming post!

Benefits Total moisture face cream:
I'm not sure how I feel about the face cream yet, it may be a bit to oily for me. I may just use it as a neck and decollete cream, its never too early to start an anti-aging routine in that area.
Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner:
This last one I must admit was an impulse buy, because it appealed to my inner germaphobe.
As I stood in line eyeing it, my inner rationale sounded a bit like this:
" I own very few makeup brushes so there aren't very many to rotate out. I find myself cleaning them often and if they are still wet, I just won't be wearing makeup that day. Hmm... Its coming home with me!"

So this little spray has put my mind at ease in between my deep cleaning sessions for my brushes.

Overall, I have been wanting to try these products for quite some time and I must say, so far so good.
More detailed reviews on some of these babies will come soon.

Errand Girl

Seeing how I'm a jeans and T-shirt kind of gal, putting on a dress instantly makes me feel dolled up. I only needed to run a few errands but thought to shake things up and let my dress free from the closet. It's literally been at least a year since I've worn a dress but I was actually quite comfortable. Maybe I'll set more of the dresses hiding in the back of my closet free. I feel more OOTDs coming on, what do you think?

Dress: Banana Republic
Jacket: Forever 21 (old)
Scarf: Charming Charlies
Diamond Pattern Tights: Macy's
Boots: Black Poppy (from Pacsun)

Maybelline Baby Lips: Worth the Hype?

I'm late on the Baby Lips bandwagon, I know, but better late than never.
I picked up "Grape Vine" and "Peach Kiss."
Initially I couldn't decide if I liked them because they weren't what I expected them to be. I thought they would be more like the Revlon Lip Butters, which are moisturizing sheer lipsticks. The Baby Lips have more of a Chapstick feel but provide a hint of color.

The packaging is cute as a button and my lips feel smooth after using these. Peach kiss has a frosty peach pink tint and Grape Vine leaves a slight berry-purple tint on the lips. I love these because the tint is obviously not very dramatic but perfect for people like me who aren't lipstick lovers. I prefer sheer lipsticks and this is just a step down when I just want even less pigment to work with. If you haven't noticed, I like to keep things pretty natural looking.

If you are a die hard fan of Chapstick but wish they provided a tiny bit more color Baby Lips are the next step for you!

Love at First Rinse: Origins Checks and Balances

This winter, like most, I have been dealing with that typical winter skin we all know and dread this time of year. Dry, cracked and just downright parched! You name it, its happening to my skin, but in particular my face. For some people this is typical but this isn't really my norm, year round I have normal skin; its not usually dry or oily. I have the breakout here and there but mostly my skin stays pretty balanced.

My usual products don't seem to be doing the trick and everything I have tried so far has broken me out. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found something to really soothe my skin.

I stumbled upon the Checks and Balances face wash from Origins while Christmas shopping. It really calmed my irritated skin and to be honest I think I just found my new favorite facial cleanser. Its not typically something I would reach for but when I visited the Origins counter at Macy's, I was sold. They explained to me what it does and I decided, "what the hell, nothing is working anyway, so sure I will take that free sample!" After three days of using the sample I went out and bought a full sized bottle.

I like it because it has a mild minty smell, which is usually something I steer away from because I hate any type of cleanser that tingles or smells like it will. To my surprise it doesn't tingle and as I was told it isn't suppose to. The mint scent is nice and light. The smell doesn't linger and is actually pretty calming, especially before bedtime. When washing it foams into a thick creamy lather, it almost reminds of whipped cream.

With the help of regular moisturizing, it has really helped calm my dry patches. Now my face is as pleased as a peach and well balanced.

Easy Last Minute Gifting: For Her

In the spirit of the holiday season I thought that I would jump start this blog and share some ideas on a few last minute Christmas gifts for her.

Every year it seems like Christmas creeps up on me and I realize that it takes longer than I thought to find that perfect gift. If you're anything like me these types of guides can really come in handy, so I hope this gives you a few last minute ideas!

Makeup Palettes:

I''m sure any beautiful makeup palette would make almost every girl jump for joy! There are really great makeup palettes a varying price ranges and color options to suit your gifting needs. On the lower price range E.L.F cosmetics makes a 150 piece palette for about $10 and can be found at most Target stores. There are also the oh so famous Naked palettes. They just unleashed the Naked 3 palette just in time for Christmas!

Candles are such an easy gift to give and  you can find beautifully scented candles at whatever your price range is. My favorites are "Perfect Night" and "Gardenia Lily", they smell amazing and are about $10 at Target.

Diamonds may be a girls best friend but if you're not planning on getting engaged or are buying for a trendy friend this Christmas, you don't have to break the bank. If she loves jewelry and really hops through each trend, there are plenty of places that sale cute affordable jewelry like Forever 21 and Icing. You can get her truckloads of jewelry that fits the current trends at really affordable prices.

I love getting new books! I really don't think it is possible for me to leave a Barnes and Nobles without buying at least one book. I love my Kindle but there is just something about having a physical book in hand that just warms my soul. Above are books I own and love or really gifting this year!

An Experience:
A ticket to Disneyland, a gift certificate to the spa or even the good ole' handmade coupon promising to make dinner. I'm sure any of the above would be a welcome surprise and greatly appreciated.
